Planamesa NeoOffice is een opensource-kantoorsuite vergelijkbaar met Microsoft Office maar specifiek ontwikkeld voor Mac OS X. Het programma stamt af van OpenOffice.org en is nauw verwant aan LibreOffice en Apache OpenOffice.
De NeoOffice-suite biedt verschillende toepassingen waarmee u tekstdocumenten, tekeningen, diagrammen, presentaties en spreadsheets kunt maken en bewerken. Het ondersteunt een breed scala aan bestandsformaten voor kantoorproductiviteit. Het meest opvallende is dat de suite de meeste XML-bestandsindelingen van Microsoft Office kan lezen en schrijven, zoals .DOCX , .XLSX en .PPTX .
Zoals eerder vermeld, is NeoOffice vergelijkbaar met LibreOffice en OpenOffice, maar specifiek ontwikkeld voor Mac OS X. NeoOffice omvat het gebruik van de "Gatekeeper" -functie van Mac OS X om u te beschermen tegen het installeren van schadelijke software, Mac OS X "Versies" -functie waarmee u eerdere versies van uw document kunt herstellen, en Mac OS X-gedrag voor het markeren van tekst om u hetzelfde gevoel te geven als andere Mac OS X-toepassingen.
Planamesa NeoOffice is een competent kantoor suite voor Mac OS X. Het is compatibel met veel industriestandaard bestandsindelingen en wordt standaard uitgevoerd in Mac OS X. NeoOffice wordt echter niet langer aangeboden als gratis download (het vereist een donatie) en zowel Apache OpenOffice als LibreOffice kunnen nu worden wordt standaard uitgevoerd in Mac OS X. Dus als u op zoek bent naar een gratis alternatief voor Microsoft Office, zijn OpenOffice of LibreOffice betere keuzes.
