Microsoft Office is een industriestandaard suite van kantoorproductiviteitstoepassingen. De suite is beschikbaar voor Windows op desktopcomputers en tablets. Het is ook beschikbaar voor Mac OS X, hoewel het beperkter is in vergelijking met Windows.

Elk programma dat deel uitmaakt van de Office-suite maakt gebruik van het Open XML-formaat, dat populaire bestandsextensies gebruikt, zoals .DOCX , .PPTX en .XLSX . Office-toepassingen ondersteunen ook invoegtoepassingen of plug-ins die u kunt downloaden om de mogelijkheden van de programma's uit te breiden.
Microsoft Office is het toonaangevende kantoorproductiviteitspakket, of het nu voor zakelijk of persoonlijk gebruik wordt gebruikt. U kunt Office aanschaffen met een eenmalige betaling of met een abonnement. Gratis suites, zoals Apache OpenOffice, kunnen in sommige gevallen als vervanging worden gebruikt, maar aangezien Microsoft Office binnen de zakelijke en educatieve gemeenschap is gestandaardiseerd, is de prijs van Office nog steeds de aankoop waard.
